  • Women & Horses Panel

    The Maryland Horse Library & Education Center played host to a panel discussion on women in Maryland racing on March 27, 2023, in celebration of Women's History Month! Speakers included Karen Fulton, head trainer and owner of Full Moon Farm in Finksburg and vice chair of the Maryland Horse Industry Board, Cindy Halle, a multiple championship-winning polo coach at Garrison Forest School and the Maryland Polo Club, Georganne Hale, vice president of racing development for the Maryland Jockey Club, and award-winning equine photographer Cappy Jackson.   • Work Experience Program

      Launched in 2018, the Work Experience Program provides qualified applicants with the opportunity to gain work experience in the field of their choice. Hours worked by the participants in their internship are funded by the MHF, so that host sites can provide an engaging and educational experience with no financial burden. The MHF helps connect qualified applicants internship opportunities, based on their future career goals and what aspects of the Maryland Thoroughbred industry interest them most.     YMCA Camp Letts Equestrian Center in Edgewater hosts a holistic horsemanship program, including equine husbandry and riding for children age 6 to adults. Lessons are taught by certified and/or academically trained instructors and offer online content through its YouTube channel.
