    Happy Pennsylvania Derby day! #MDBred Smarten won Happy Pennsylvania Derby day! #MDBred Smarten won the inaugural Pennsylvania Derby in 1979 for owner/breeder Ryehill Farm and trainer Woody Stephens. Smarten won eight stakes races in his 27-race career and later stood at Windfields Farm, where he sired 48 stakes winners!
