What a marvelous win by Mavilus! The #MDBred daughter of Orientate came from off the pace to win last Saturday's Conniver Stakes in a 25-1 upset. Jaime Rodriguez had the winning mount for owner Michael Scheffres and trainer Carlos Mancilla. Kevin Morgan was the winning breeder.

The late Northview stallion Not For Love was Maryland's leading sire 13 times. He's the all-time leading Maryland Million stallion, with his progeny winning 37 Maryland Million races. He's also the grandsire of 2014 Kentucky Derby and Preakness champion California Chrome. He'll be honored with the Not For Love Stakes today at Laurel Park! #StallionSaaturday

Harrison Johnson trained horses in Maryland for de

Harrison Johnson trained horses in Maryland for decades. He was perhaps best-known as the trainer of #MDBred 1973 Hopeful Stakes winner Gusty O'Shay (pictured).

Tragically, Johnson was killed in a plane crash in 1985 while returning home from a trip to Saratoga. He will be honored with the Harrison E. Johnson Memorial Stakes this Saturday at Laurel Park. #TBT
